Editor’s Letter: October

October’s magic is unrivalled. The mornings are crisper, the leaves are forming a golden carpet, and there’s the scent of chimney smoke in the air as evening falls. The jumpers are being pulled out of hibernation, and our wellies are once again taking pride of place by the door, ready for those long autumn walks.

There’s a lot happening at this time of year too. Firstly - it’s fair season! Toffee apples and candyfloss galore, many towns such as Ilkeston, Ripley and Belper will see their seasonal fair join the marketplace for a few nights, where you’ll find everything from hook-a-ducks to ferris wheels, ghost trains and mirror mazes. With Halloween at the end of the month, it’s also the perfect time to schedule a visit to your local pumpkin patch, with many across Derbyshire offering the opportunity to pick your own and take home for carving.

If you haven’t got your hands on our Autumn issue yet, now if your last chance to do so as November will see the release of our Christmas special, along with our Winter issue too. Get your copy here: Magazine — Your Derbyshire

Wherever October finds you – whether it’s crunching leaves underfoot, enjoying a pint in a cosy pub, or carving pumpkins with the family – we hope this month brings a little warmth to your day.

Warmest wishes,

Olivia & Rachel
