Behind the Scenes at Chatsworth House: This Year’s Magical Christmas Theme
We were delighted to be invited to the press photo-call day at Chatsworth House to enjoy a privileged behind-the-scenes preview of this year’s Christmas transformation.
The theme for this year is The Enchanted Garden, with decorations drawing on nature, foliage, subtle light, shadows, woodland magic and the idea of the garden coming alive with festive wonder. Inside the house, more than 20 rooms have been transformed with towering trees, mistletoe clusters, copper toadstools and glimmers of the forest displayed alongside the grandeur of the stately home.
Beyond the house, the Christmas in the Garden Light Trail invites guests to explore the beauty of Chatsworth’s landscape after dark. The illuminated walk winds through the historic grounds, bringing to life waterfalls, rockeries, and grand trees with dazzling light installations and atmospheric soundscapes.

Plan Your Visit
Christmas at Chatsworth runs from 9 November 2025 to 5 January 2026. Entry to the house, garden, and light trail is by pre-booked ticket only, and early booking is strongly advised due to high demand.
Top tips for your visit:
Allow plenty of time to explore both the house and garden.
Wear warm, comfortable clothing and footwear for the evening light trail.
Don’t forget to look up - many of the decorations are set high within the grand ceilings and staircases.
Stay a little longer to enjoy a festive drink or meal in one of the estate cafés.
